COMPLETE GUIDE TO NORMCORE STYLE

COMPLETE GUIDE TO NORMCORE STYLE

If you like to watch those 100 years of Fashion videos, today we are learning about our current decade, where we look sophisticated through neutral colours and effortless styling. Being this practical has never been this classy. You will see everyone dressing like this sometimes, including yourself. Finding images was so easy I had to cut down many of them and still managed to share about 100 here. Where head to toe all you need is the following..

BUTTON UP SKIRT
Best if:
High waisted and... mini! But you can get away with a midi denim one in any neutral colour. This is also quite trendy in tan suede, giving it a much more classic look compared to a black one for example.

STRIPED TOP
Best if:
It is a t-shirt, but any classic shirt style with vertical stripes will work as well as the horizontal stripes on a sweater or tee. The darker the blue the better, the thinner the stripes, the better.

SUNGLASSES
Best if:
Total black, lenses included. Cat eye or squared will both work fine as for different faces, different shapes. The most clean and on point ones would be the wayfarer style (Ray-Bans) and the cat-eye, like the very well known, Modern Love from Quay.

JEANS
Best if:
Ripped. Sturdy. Medium blue to light blue, although darks could work very good as well. High waisted and short enough to see your ankles. Perfect!

PLAIN NEUTRAL TOP
Best if:
The colours are either really dark, or really light. Avoid tops that are too fitted (that's so 2000's).

LONG BEIGE COAT
Best if:
It goes just around your knees. Tends to look better if the beige is lighter.

BIG BLACK HANDBAG
Best if:
In a rectangular shape, in a clean leather design. Perfection looks like Saint Laurent Black Sac De Jour.

WHITE JEANS
Best if: Fitted, high waisted, just like any other pair of jeans. It is safe to say that as long as they are white jeans they will work perfectly.

MILITARY GREEN JACKET
Best if:
it looks more or less like a shirt, and it is made out of denim. (or looks like) Two big pockets on top, just like you would see in the military uniform.

WHITE SNEAKERS: STAN SMITH
Best if:
white with the green thing on the back! (you knew this one)

WHITE SNEAKERS: CONVERSE
Best if:
Chuck Taylor style, totally white, with the classic red line.

DENIM JACKET
Best if:
looks like something from the 80's. Sturdy. Just like the jeans, medium to light denim.

FEDORA
Best if:
black.

BLACK LEATHER JACKET
Best if:
it looks something stolen from James Dean. Front lapels, zippers and waist belt/buckle.

BASIC WHITE SHIRT
Best if:
Basic. White. Whether it is the workwear vibe, or the stolen boyfriend's shirt, any will work perfectly as long as you style only with things from the list above.

COURT HEELS
Best if:
as classic/modern looking as possible. Pointed, elegant, comfortable (discomfortable clothes are so 1800's..)  mate black, suede touch or leather according to your personal taste.

NEUTRAL SHOULDER BAG
Best if:
Medium size, half-moon shape, with long belt looking strap (or chain).

BLACK ANKLE BOOTS
Best if:
it has a chunky heel, made of leather, pointed (not too much), have this sort of hanging thing on the back. No laces, either close with zipper, or are elasticated.

BLACK JEANS
Best if:
High waisted, comfortable. Stop at the ankle, almost capri style. Eventually, if of your taste, have those knee cuts.

SLIP ONS / VANS
Best if:
In neutral colours. Either in leather or suede. As similar to the original black leather Vans as possible.

DENIM SHORTS
Best if:
like all blue denim mentioned before, something from the 80's, light to medium blue coloured. Sturdy. If of your taste, ripped trip. To take it further, with rips and wholes.
