LUCK

LUCK

I used to believe in luck as much as I believe in hope. That changed the day I heard Oprah saying “luck is simply when preparation meets opportunity, there is no luck”. One of the luckiest women in the world, going against the odds on the time of her arisal, becoming one of the most successful women in the world - I had to take her words into consideration.

Since then, I’ve been trying to talk myself out of the meaning of luck, re-educating myself on the subject. Every time someone said the word “luck” I’d hear Oprah’s voice in my head.

“Time meets opportunity” meaning that if you are ready you will be lucky. But isn’t the opportunity it self the real lucky moment? Some opportunities come out of the blue, and even when you are not ready, you still have a chance to succeed - luck!

“Great people do things before they’re ready” - Amy Poehler

We all speak from experience more than anything else, and sure being prepared will get at least half of the chances up, but how can you be fully ready if life picks up quickly and you never met what is next?

I came up with my own conclusion and which is why I decided to write today.

Luck increases with preparation, but it also increases with enthusiasm and believing. It increases with motivation, even things don’t seem to be working at your favour. Your luck will increase the moment you take the bigger picture seriously enough to give the big steps when necessary, because taking the opportunities can be more important than even preparing for them. You might not win, but if you place yourself as near as you can to the final objective, your luck might just be there.
