AU REVOIR PARIS

FT. HOTEL MATLE

Long time no see! Who would think I'd be back after so long. Maybe it's this Winter weather, maybe it's the memories.. It is hard to not look back to the good memories mostly from Paris, with another Paris Fashion Week around the corner. And if you are wondering - no, I'm not going.

I wasn't supposed to be writing to you 2018, truth is, the last bit of 2017 was the perfect ending of the year I could not put together in my mind in the beginning of that same year.  Life is weird in so many ways, but one that really strikes me is how we can go from one extreme to another and survive between the chaos.

It's an "Au Revoir" to Paris as it is an au revoir to fashion in it's cliche form that made me stop for a few months. You don't have to be a "fashion victim" a "fashionista" dress with luxury head to toe or know all designers. There's so much pressure in this industry to value non-sense as a religion, and if you don't get what I'm talking about - you're safe.

In a few lines, think of fashion week of something nothing more nothing less of a conference of fashion people (designers, influencers, press, buyers) the intent is one - sell. To influencers or their audiences, and mostly to buyers, who end up winning with influencers as well. In some way we make brands not only popular but cool. Like Cameron Dallas with Dolce & Gabbana or Kaia all over the runway - same thing in different shapes. We sit front row although we're not buying.

Don't get me wrong, what a way to live. But this industry needs a reality check on its priorities. Brands should stand for something more than design, otherwise, it's just clothes, and if you can get similar Fendi for the same quality at a lower price, it's smart to do so. (unless no one is being harmed or abused in the process - counterfeit is illegal - I'm talking Ted Baker make a similar design for the season).

That being said I shifted a bit away from the industry in the shape it is best known, but I'm still into its fun technical side - identity, trends, what brands stand for, my forecasting is still strong although sometimes I'm not paying much attention. So I might come here once in a while to share those trends with you as you really seem to enjoy that.

In the meantime, hope you enjoy these photos we took in Paris at the hotel, it was one of my favorite in the last 3 years I stayed in Paris, mainly because everything was so close and the room had an amazing view.
